Question Pewter Silver Metallic

(ALSO KNOWN AS: Tectite Grey Metallic)

I am very interested in this colour! It looks like it could be really beautiful on the C!

Has anyone seen one in person before? How does it look?

Does anyone have any photos of a C (sedan, preferably) in this colour, or know where I could find some?

Thanks very much!

Tim

Pewter is not Tectite. Tectite is darker.

MBUSA says this is Pewter Silver Metallic...

It looks much darker than those pics of the C230 Coupe in the thread...

Are you saying that MB is not offering a dark grey colour paint anymore?

Thanks,

Tim

different color?

I thought that the pictures posted above of the '03 C230 was desert silver. The new pewter color is much darker. It shows it clearly in the '03 C-Class brochure. It also shows the desert silver and the brilliant silver. These are just paint chips of course but at least it shows the difference in the 2 silvers and the pewter.

See, that is what I thought also?

Is there any way you could scan in (or take a pic of) that back page of the brochure so we could all see the colour swatches?

Thanks,

Tim

Is the brochure you're referring to different from this one?

This is a pretty true rendition of Tectite, I hear 2002 was the last year for this.

CME4BENZ is a dealer

The car shown in the CME4BENZ thread is Pewter, he is a dealer and if you read his thread he swears it is correct.

He said:
Sorry Rick
I only sell the cars.
I only looked at the color, the build sheet and the color code.
I only delivered the car today.
I took pics of a 2003 C230K, PEWTER (code 723) !
I admit the color does show up that well "on the net"
It is much darker than the Desert silver and has more of a gray/green/bronze hue.

All I can add is whatever the Pewter looks like to you, if CME4BENZ's is Pewter, Tectite is darker, believe me I own it.

tecite is the best color, i wish i could have gotten my coupe in that color, but mbusa wouldn't even let me special order it. I was even willing to pay extra.

I saw a newly delivered 2003 pewter C240 sedan at my dealership in Bethesda Maryland. Pewter is a medium grey silver, lighter than the tectite grey, but darker than the brilliant silver. The AMG in the 2003 C-Class brochure is pewter and the picture is fairly close to how pewter actually looks when you see it for yourself.

I wonder how the scanner will handle the reflective nature of the paint. It may be like trying to scan the underside of the CD.

Aren't they just as glossy as a glossy photo? I don't think it should be a problem.

Does anyone know if Mercedes is offering a dark grey colour exterior paint anymore? Some people have said there is no Tectite Grey-like colour anymore, while others have said Pewter is almost the same as Tectite?

Thanks,

Tim

I consider obsidian black to be a really dark grey, but that is my subjective opinion.

Here's a side by side comparation of the brilliant silver, pewter silver and desert silver. (Don't mind that the pics shows the new E-class)

I consider Capri Blue to be black... in the dark the Capri Blue simply looks black, but it could just be me

So does anyone know what the closest colour to Tectite would be? I'm really interested in a dark grey (similar to the Steal Grey BMW colour, for example), but Pewter doesn't seem very dark?

Does MB offer such a dark grey colour?

Thanks,

Tim
