Help!!! Need Brakes ASAP!!!!!!
I just got back from the dealer and they said i would need new front brake pads and rotors. They also, gave me a quote....$580. What a ripoff.
Anyways, I was wondering if you guys knew a good place that sells the c32AMG front brake kit. I checked Evosport, they want $1017.
Please Help!!!
Thanks

are you sure those brakes would work w/ your car/wheels?
How does one know if brakes would fit their current setup? I just had my brakes looked at and they said ive got like 20% left before i need to change out my brakes...

Just so you know (in case you didn't already), if you want to do a front brake upgrade, it's gonna cost more than the $580 (to replace the pads/rotors) because you'll need to upgrade the calipers as well.

There are [I]no[I] cheap AMG parts.
You should be able to buy the parts for the brake job for less than $250, and do the front axel yourself. Change the hardware and sensors, too. Polish the 'ways' on the calipers, and the sliding portion of the pads. Wear gloves and do not get a speck of dirt or grease on the pads or rotor friction surfaces.
Using the Mercedes specified lubricants will prevent squeeking, and allow the pads to move easily.
After cleaning the piston boots, look them over for any sign of deterioration, and replace them if necessary.
After the job is done, flush with Mercedes brake fluid. The other stuff, even ATE racing blue or gold do not meet Mercedes specification for brake fluid. Remember, even if it is pricy, MB brake fluid is cheaper than seals, calipers, and master cylinders.

Our Ford dealer wanted $600 for rear pads and rotors. The worst part was they were Motorcraft, not even Ford parts. For those that don't know, Motorcraft is Ford's low end imported parts, usually half the price of Ford OEM parts. No matter what, they will take you for a ride for brakes, must be their cash cow. If you can't find a good deal on the big brakes, get some Porterfield pads and one of their cryo treated slotted or drilled rotors and do it yourself, should only take about an hour at most. I've seen people put the big brakes from the 2004.5 C230 on the 2004 and they fit fine with the 7 spoke wheels. If you were local I'ld help you out but I'm not driving to Beantown anytime soon.

$700 was long time ago in a galaxy devioud of bush's
freewheeling spending policies.
Yup. Gold was <300 an ounce too. Or rather the dollar was worth twice as much. I hear FEMA's has come good prices on mobile homes.
I saw it coming and got my kit at 600 before it was too late.
Sometimes they come up used, but likely only part worth using is
calipers.
$1000 in todays dollars isn't a bad price. Still 1/3 of Brembo BBK.
Likely I'll need rotors next time...and likely cost about $300-400.
But seriously, if you just need brakes, it's a 1/2 hour job...1 hour
including the beer run. Just pull a wheel. It'll explain itself.
70 for pads and sensors, Rotors are less than 50, or around 60 for drilled rotors. 200 bucks and yer done.
You'll only need to remove about 8 bolts per side, 5 being from the wheel.
Hubs are sealed so it's real easy. Check here and that other place for
instructions.
