Someone double check my IC logic
I need someone to double check and correct if need be my intercooler 101 logic.... I don't know much on the subject...
OK here goes... if I have an IC that flows 500cfm, had an efficiency of 60% and had a pressure drop of 1 PSI @ 2 bar...would that mean that if I chop it in half... (half being horizontal splicing reducing the number of tubes across the core)... I would have an IC which flows 250cfm, retains it's efficiency of 60% but having a pressure drop of 2 PSI @ 2 bar?
would the maths be a linear division or are other theories involved making the calculation more complex...
The thing is, I am eying a new Mitsu Evo 5 IC rated for 450HP... it is tube and fin, about 11" high x 20" x 2.5"thick... it holds 11 tubes along it's 11" height. Now, I plan on cutting it down to 7" tall resulting in 10 of the 15 tubes remaining.... the width is already good.
Any thoughts?
