UK Spec C230
The UK market has 4 variants of the Coupe. C180, C200 C230 and C200 CDi. The UK web site ( www.mercedesbenz.co.uk ) shows the M271 (1.8) engine for the C180 and C200 but a 2.3 unit in the C230. The stated C230 performance and economy seem to equal the C230 M271. Is this a mistake on the UK website or are MB trying to 'off-load' the old 230 unit onto the UK market? My concern is genuine as I am waiting delivery of a C230 (expected end of Sept).

The website has recently been updated. The 200K now features the new 1.8 engine.
I took delivery of a 200k three weeks ago. It has a 2.0L engine (so I was told). By the way, when I got my registatrion document through, the driving licence agency had listed it as a 240D ??
and engine capacity of 1796cc. !!
I assume I have a 2.0Litre? How can I tell ? My understanding is that the new 1.8's aren't avaiable for delivery yet.

Hello Latent,
I telephoned MBUK today and confirmed that the C230K will have the M271 engine fitted to all cars delivered from June 2002 onwards.
My previous C230K coupe had a red 'Kompressor' cover on top of the head cowling - I believe that the new engine has a Silvery Grey one. What colour is yours?? See also http://mbspy.bacosys.be/M271
