Help me keep my car!

I purchased my 2005 C230WZ (6 speed manual) 18 months ago NEW. It currently has 13,000 miles. I have experienced a few irritating problems like rattles, an evaporator (ac) problem, a radio problem and a sunroof problem. All were resolved under warranty, and with the exception of the rattles, i'm fairly satisfied.

When I first purchased the vehicle I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I quickly did some cosmetic modding (aluminium door pins/surrounds, clear side markers, flat hood badge, new front grill, illuminated door sills). I was so happy with the vehicle that I was an active participant on this forum. About 6 months ago is when all the problems described above began and left a bitter taste in my mouth about this vehicle. Additionally, the more I drove the car the more I felt that it was too slow and I needed something with a little more HP. For the past three months I have stopped visiting/participating on this site and I have been looking for a replacement vehicle. As I started to look seriously at other vehicles in the same price range that appeared to have better performance numbers, I could not help but feel that If I were to pull the trigger and make the switch, that I would miss this car.

So now I am thinking that I might hang on to her a little longer. However, I think the only way this current thinking will last is if I do something about the performance factor. Since I have been away from the forum for a few months, did I miss anything on the M271 engine modding front? I had previously looked at the Kleeman kit but it seemed to be very costly with only marginal gains. What is the consensus around here on best HP gain mods?

I think it will be worthwhile for me to spend several thousand dollars improving the performance of my vehicle rather than losing a tonne on a sale this quickly. So what suggestions do you all have?

Thanks

$$$$$ spent on modding have a very low return on resale in most cases. Only you can determine what is right for you. Any input to your question you get may or may not be applicable to your situation.

Its inevitable that you want something else since the newness has worn off.
