IrfanView - a must-have program for digital photos manipulation (repost)

NOTE: FOR MS WINDOWS USERS ONLY

This is the best fast image viewer/editor I've ever used (well, Adobe Photoshop aside... ). A must-have if you own a digital camera. It works with TWAIN scanners, too. IT's not very comprehensive, but is excellent for a quick fix.

IrfanView Download Page

"IrfanView is a fast, simple freeware image viewer and editor that supports all major graphic formats, including BMP, DIB, JPEG, GIF, animated GIF, PNG, PCX, multipage TIFF, TGA, and more. In addition, it features drag-and-drop support, directory viewing, TWAIN support, slide shows, batch conversion, and modifications such as color depth, crop, blur, and sharpen. "

Enjoy!

P.S. I posted this thread in the "Off Topic" area first, but then realized that it might be more appropriate here, where people come to share their WOW!'s and might want to post pix of their new Benzes

Macs are the Mercedes-Benz of computers. The 5% of us who are capable of appreciating the style, quality, and elegance of a Mac have a much enriched computing experience comapred to the 95% who settle on a "Chevy". ;-)

Close, but not quite. Remove the steering wheel, the gear shifter, all gauges, leave just one pedal (stop/go) and one light on the dashboard, green/red (green=all is ok, red=can't go, malfunction)- and you'll get a Mac of automobiles. Oh, yeah - it should also ride like a Lexus and tell you where you must go And plastic, indeed, is of very high quality

WAY off topic

I've been a Macnician for the past 11 years....I run 2 digital video classes (8 Macs of various flavors) and I'm starting up a digital photo lab this week (for next semester). Currently, I manage to get away with MOST of the work I need to do on my Macs. Oracle DB's wont run in SoftWindows, so I have a Dell for that end of business.
(Factory Auth. service for IBM, Dell, Compaq, HP, Xerox, SGI, Sun and of course...Apple/certs: MCSE, A+,Mac+,Cisco, etc. )

That said, my 867mhz Power Mac smokes my 1.6ghz Dell in Photoshop benchmark tests.

And...I drive a Mercedes-Benz. Life doesn't get much better than this!

I'd venture to say, you've never used a PowerMac, Vadim....your disdain is evident, but you can't justify it by slamming something you're not sure of.

Other than that...your avatar explains it all.

Have a nice day :p

lol, young...
Does it have stickers all over it and a coffee can I/O port? Did you lower it and put low profile CDRW/DVD changers under the case cover? Overdrive never had a better meaning!!

Rick, you just can't stop... Did I hurt your feelings that bad? Ok, ok... yours is bigger, both in length and girth... Satisfied now?

P.S. you're right, I never used any mac, I'm content with a few SGI, Sun + countless Linux boxes to have fun with.

i'm with wizkid on this one. Linux all the way. It's the best of both worlds. Highly customizable desktop's, flawless compatability with windows, and it's free.

Actually, I typed that on a Dell at work!! hahaha. I'm a digital photojournalist and use PowerMac G4's for the real work, and a boring PeeCee for idle web surfing and calendar functions.

Have any of you Unix guys seen Mac OSX? It's basically BSD Unix with a Mac GUI.
I can run two different versions of the Mac OS, a couple versions of Microsoft Windows, and have a Unix terminal window open all at the SAME time!!!

But, sadly, I still make typos!!
