Got a new COMAND 2.0

Just thought that I could share my experience in installing a COMAND.

I bought a euro COMAND 2.0 with the TV button from eBay, but I didn't realize that it was from a G-wagon until I did more research and looked at the part #. I followed the instruction on this website: http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsite/comand_2.0.htm and also ran a wire from position 24 pin 3 to connector C2 pin 6 following the instruction on this page: https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ght=463+comand. It turned out that I only needed the wiring harness that I cut off to get the connector to connect to the existing C connector wires, one MCP pin and one smaller pin (not sure if it's called MCP). The whole process took me about 3-4 hours. The hardest part was to remove the air vent at the very beginning, and to remove the damn screw that's located on the back side under the windshield wiper. But I'm very happy with what I have right now. Even though ppl say that the gyroscope will make turning seem a little awkward, but I'm satisfied with it so far. Maybe I have to try to drive at high speed and make a turn to see the difference?? Anyways, took a couple pictures, and here they are...

Comand for you car will fit the W203 and W209 from 2001 to 2004. The G-wagon one requires additional work because the gyro is at a different angle and it doesn't have the speed sensor wire in the harness so I wouldn't recomend it unless you get it very cheap. Don't know why there are so many g-wagon comands on ebay. If you want to put it in any car, get Comand from the older W210 cars, they don't have the DB2 fiber and don't need canbus to work so you can put them in any car with a double din hole. Once person put it in his Miata.

Well I connected the speed sensor to the COMAND and now the unit works perfectly. It turns with no errors every turn and stays on the road very well. It was quite a pain in the *** to connect the speed sensor though... Took me like half an hour and I broke some plastic on some connector when I tried to put the fuse box back into place. Other than that I'm very happy with my COMAND.

Well I bought it from eBay. The whole setup including the COMAND (bought for about $800 Canadian dollars) is about $1000 CAD, and that includes all the tools I bought, the Navigation CD, the wire harnesses, etc. I'll do a DIY in a few days because I haven't taken any pic's yet....

P.S. I'm thinking of adding a mobile DVD player to the TV input. But don't know where to hide the DVD player yet.
