Powered antenna confirmation

I recently installed a new touch screen car computer in my 06 c230 and one among several issues I am having is my radio reception blows. I bought the VW radio harness, which everyone says works but for my 06 it did not so I had to test my wire leads for the correct wire. I did not run a wire for a power antenna. Does the 06 have an antenna that requires 12v to amplify it or is it similar to other vehicle antennas that do not require power? I have searched but found no confirmation. Please help!

I think the head unit turned out well but I plan to mold a screen in my mounting kit and lose the fold out for a more stock look.

Just a few. The video looks great and I have everything working except GPS (I need to buy a USB antenna) and my bluetooth has some feed back form the mic when the ac is on because I mounted it in the vent. I still think when i get use to the touch screen that a molded in screen will look way better. But at least the blue button match my door sills. I have 5" lcd screens for the rear seats on the way we will see how that turns out as well. The case for the PC is a simple black media cause that looks like a home radio tuner with no screen and is just sitting in the trunk next to my single 10 sub box now, but I think I will make a more of a more flush mount box for both I just want to keep as much trunk space as I can.

My background is a Mercedes emblem made from a thong if you can’t make it out

That's hilarious! Now that you mentioned it, I noticed it, but at first...I just noticed that it was a little wider than the normal MB emblem!...hahahaha

I think you're right that a flush mount will look better later on, but this looks damn good, man. Other than the few problems you've run into, much props for the work you put in to getting it done!

I'm assuming that you lost functionality of the steering wheel controls or were you able to integrate those too? If so, you are the freakin' man!

I did lose the function of the steering wheel controls but from what I understand I can build an interface that will work very easily. Not sure if you have ever played video games on a PC which I don’t but I know that the usb controls you can pick up for 20 bucks allow you to program the function of the button. So I can wire the steering wheel buttons for volume up and down as long as the buttons on the wheel are momentary which I am pretty sure they are and I can figure out the best way to get to them.

I found a steeringwheel column fiber optic adaptor, on cardomain.com/store. that WOULD fit our car,

I have the Pioneer AVIC installed and the reception BLOWS! FM radio is staticy and AM is no way in reception. I think we need a adaptor!?? or whats the deal, I'm sick of CDs =[

Did you install the unit yourself? I think we may need to provide power to the antenna or at least I know that you had to in old models or well I at least read that. I have to get my radio working and if a stock head unit can get decent reception my carpc should too! Hopefully one of the guys on here with wring diagram info will chime in. I have the old radio wire diagram but it was different then mine. Can anyone confirm that the antenna does run up the back glass window? I have put so much time in this I hate little details that screw me!
