Question New wheels causing noise and vibrations?

I just got my 18" C55 rims put on a few days ago and I noticed that they are extremely noisy and bumpy compared to what I had before. I used to run 17" SS rims on Michelin Pilot Sport tires and now I have Pirelli PZero Rosso tires. I don’t have much knowledge or experience with different tires. Are these supposed to be this loud and feel this bumpy when I drive? The roads here are usually stellar. Maybe they are not balanced? Should I have them balanced, anyone know how much MB charges for that?

You can balance the wheels at tire shops, it doesnt have to be at MB dealer. I just rebalance my wheels and it costs me $20 for 4 wheels and I am in California though. HTH

you should do a high speed balance.
they spin the tire at high speeds and balance it.
costs around $100

Is the high speed balance different w/ a regular balance?

Most often balance is acomplished by spinning the wheel and tire on a macine that then spotlights where and how much weight to add to the wheel. This is adequate for most cars.

Another way to balance is to spin the wheel on the car. This then balances the hub, brake disk, lug bolts, and bearings. Seems like a good idea. The pit falls are if you remove a tire, you must put it back on the same bolt holes, and the lug bolts in the same place. If you rotate the tires, you must rebalance the wheels.

I returned my Pirelli Pzeroes (different tire but same company) because they were twichy, tramlined (felt like I was on a train shaking side to side) and overall not a good tire for our cars. Then compound that by going from 17" to 18" and it may just be a characteristic of the tire. You can get it balanced properly and if you already did get it balanced, switch the rears for the fronts and see if the problem goes away, may just be a defect in a tire or wheel that's causing this.

i might just get a new set of tires. i will be replacing the rear ones no matter what shortly so maybe i should just replace them all with a different brand and have them balanced when i get them mounted.

i will only be driving the car for another week before i store it for a month, it will have to wait till then i guess.

any recommendations for tire brands?
