Help Car is jerking alot help!!!

Well my gas light turned on last night it was driving normally before that, then I went to Acro gas station...maybe that was a bad choice because after I put gas from arco in it everytime now when I come to a full stop then gas it, around 2000rpm my car would jerk really hard automaticlly then run smooth untill i come to another full stop...I think its when it shifts from first gear to second gear( my cars an auto) Anyone know whats wrong with it. Also I installed Hid's to my car about a month ago and had MB dealer reprogram my computer. So I am worried that my warnnity is wavied and they might not cover my repairs no more. Any idea or thoughts? Thanks

your hid lights will not or should not affect your engine. bring it in and see what they say. i cant see acro's gas being the issue either. as for your warranty it would only be waived if the HID lights are the cause, again, i cant see that being the case.

good luck.

yea i talked to my service rep... she said if i installed a cold air intake it only voids engine problem... so if headunit messes up, its still covered... so you should be covered

your warranty should not be voided unless they can prove that changing to HID's is what caused the car to jerk. Have your MAF, transmission and radiator checked and have them do a glycol check. This are some of the items that might cause the car to jerk.

Yeah, the 2003 2nd gear is weird eh?

Let me know how it goes. I had the dealer reflash my transmission but it didn't solve my problem. (though the jerk usually appears when the car downshifts into 2nd for me, ie braking into a turn)

What does Glycol have to do with what appears to be an air/fuel issue?

Well... It should not be the ARCO issue, but i do have bad experience with ARCO. I was driving Honda Prelude before i bought my c class. My friends and i like to get onto freeway 110 in the middle of the night alot and push the cars to the max. I normally use chveron premium. One night i was late for the meet so i ran out of my school dorm and just filled up the gas tank at ARCO near my dorm. Then as usual we drove on 110 freeway and i know i did push the VTEC. I realized the engine light on after we finished eating at the asian food place heading home. The car could not even start properly the next day. Well, that was the first time i got ARCO and it messed up my engine. That makes me no choice to think must be the gas from ARCO.

Back to your issue. My car was vibrating too when i came to a complete stop after certain amount of driving. I brought it to my local machanic shop and the problem was the transmission. They fixed the leakage problem and filled new transmission oil, then the problem solved. I have been driving for almost 1 month now, and the car is back to normal again. U can go scan your car and check if there is anything goes wrong with transmission. GOOD LUCK!!

I think glycol comes from the engine coolant, cross leaking into the trans cooler, and has been a problem in the past for failed transmissions.

I have an '03 C32 and had a similar tranny problem. Turns out that the coolant lines run through the transmission or something like that. A friend told me that even hot coolant is cooler than the tranny, so running the coolant through the tranny helps dissipate heat from the transmission.

Apparently, there was a loose nut/washer and the tranny got full of coolant so the gears were slipping. In fact the tranny was completely messed up so they replaced it! Glad it was under warranty.

So changing the transmission oil might fix the problem short term but if the problem was the same you were having, you might need a new tranny.

So I would definitely take it in, if your car is under warranty, and wouldn't let the headlight issue stop you. Just my $0.02!

They updated the radiators as I understand, so along with a tranny, you may get a radiator too. As far as the headlights go, I would'nt worry about that. Factory warranty is only denied on covered components that have been modified. Your warranty is good on all but your new headlights. Now if your headlights cause a failure of a covered component, that's when you have a problem.

News to me. But makes complete sense. So, if you checked the tranny fluid, you would have a discoloration of the fluid. I dont' suspect it is going to be like emulsfied oil, but surely someone must know what it would look like.

Unfortunately one would have to buy the special tool called a dipstick to check the fluid..

the trans cooler lines run to the radiator and the radiator cools off the trans fluid, they had a batch of radiators that sucked and they had leakage internally and the coolant and trans fluid would mix, causing water to get into the trans, so the clutch discs in the trans dont have good friction. The fix was to replace trans, torque converter, radiator and flush the lines
