Stuck in the middle of changer install
Installing CD changer. Between the various questions asked here and the instructions and a little common sense, I was cruising along until I tried removing the upper console trim. The top of this piece (near the row of buttons above the stereo HU) is free. The bottom of this piece will not come loose. I read that there are two clips holding this section on; I saw/loosened/lost two Torx screws on the bottom of this piece. The console trim is still on tight, and it feels like at least one of the screws is lodged in the hinge mechanism of the ashtray door.
Questions:
1. Outboard of the screw holes I see metal loops that I assumed were part of a spring mechanism. I have revised my assumption and now believe that these are the clips that I should have removed in the first place. Is this correct?
2. If 1 is false can someone give me a better understanding of where the lower trim clips are?
3. I'm assuming that if I can unclip the bottom of th console trim I will have enough access to the back of the ashtray to retrieve the screws/clear the hinge. Is this correct?
4. If 3 is false, is there a way to completely pull out the ashtray (I've already removed the insert) to make removing the console trim easier and so that I can retrieve my errant screws?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

There aren't any screws on the bottom. If you open the ash tray about 50% and look into the gap you should see a 'T" shaped wire clip on each side. Use a flat screwdriver to push these down to unclip.

You also first have to remove the trim at the gear shift. Remove the trim around the shift by simply prising it up at the front. Use you fingers to then prise the trim up at the front. To release it at the back slide it forward. When you re-insert the trim make sure all the clips are on the trim's tabs.
