All Weather Floor Mats=Problem?

Good afternoon everyone,

I have ordered a set of black MB "All Weather" floor mats for our new C230 three times now. They all have arrived at the dealer with some kind of white stuff on them. The mats look bad. The color is uneven. The coating does not wash off. It will come off if you rub the mat with your thumb. It will also come off in the car and leave little pieces all over the floor.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Are there better all weather mats available?

Weathertech's mats are very high quality, and probably cheaper than MB's.

I got rid of mine for a set from cocomats.com, which I like better. But most people think that they look a little odd.

The real question is why you didn't stop ordering the MB ones after the second bad set.

Age..

The first set had a date of 2003 on them. They looked bad so I brought them back to the dealer and they refunded my $$. The dealer from that point forward order two more sets one after another. They all have the same problem. The last set had a date of 2005 on them. The dealer was trying to find a good set for me.

I have the same problem with the scuff marks on the all weather floor mats. My dealership told me that MB switched manufacturers. The parts guy told me to apply oil or Armor All to get a more even look. However, when I sprayed Armor All on it, it sure became slippery trying to get out of car.

Like Toomy said---go with Weathertech's. I've had them in my last few cars and in my '04 now. Very satisfied and you can probably find them in an aftermarket parts store,so you wont have to buy on-line. Fronts are about $50
