C230K or IS300? & What's the best deal people of got in Toronto for C230 K

Hi All,

What is the best deal someone can get for a 2002 C230K
in the Toronto Area (or in Canada in general)? Right now I am told $1500 of MSRP and I am wondering what is the max I can get.

I am also torn between the C230K and the IS300, I test drove both cars, both felt great, however, the IS300 just seems to have a better value overall (and I know that most Japanese cars do).
I guess I am just looking for some opinions, so any input is appreciated!

I'm in Ottawa and my C230K came to $40.7K with all options, and I got $1000 off MSRP, but didn't haggle that much (I have my reasons, don't worry), so I'm sure you can do better.

Here's my $0.02 cause I just looked around in the last month:

There's quite a difference in price between $34K base C230K and $42K base IS300.

As for overall value, the cramped cheap plastic-y interior, the love-it or hate-it styling, and some of the little features missing (hood prop rod) means the IS300 won't keeps its value as well as the C230K. The residuals just came out for 2003 C230K and they are up 4-5%, so MB is realising the C230K will keep its value.

As for reliability, its a Toyota, they last forever, my Camry is still going strong, but Jap cars are the same as German, if they do break, they can cost you an-arm-and-a-leg to repair...

As for performance, the IS300 wins hands down, great car to drive, just not as driver-friendly with all the other features that make normal everyday driving pleasurable. So do you want to have fun driving the **** outta your car? or enjoy driving it daily to work and on trips?

Both the C230K and IS300 are head-turners, and there are few out there. The 4drs are more passenger friendly than 2drs. The C230K will be cheaper on gas... if that matters... and should be cheaper on insurance.
