C230k == Cl230 == Clk230!

The MB C230 Kompressor Sports Coupe is commonly referred to as the C230K, but when you go to order it, is classified as a CL230.

So if its a CL230, and a Kompressor, isn't it really a CLK230?

More importantly, if it were a CLK, would the current C-class owners still consider it a poor man's MB?

I feel another "hot topic" coming on, gotta put on my shades!

The "K" in CLK refers to the german word for short. Therefore a CLK is a "shorter CL." Similarly for the SLK.

Not CL230 - it's CL203. This is the coupe's chassis designation (W203 for C Class sedans).

Speaking of "poor man's MB", they sell CLK200K in Europe (along with E240, S320 etc.) - how about those?

You guys are no fun, just trying to make some humour after all the debating lately over "poor man's MB".

I guess I didn't put enough smilies in the original post to let everyone know I was just having fun.

K for Kompact (dont know exact german spelling). IIRC, SLK is Sport-Licht-Kompact (sport,light,compact)

I thought the K was for "Kurtz" (not sure of the spelling, either) which means short.

u want "poor man's MB" i'll show you some "poor man's MB". In Taiwan, MB sell C180, E200k (W210), and SLK200k, but they are not cheap at all because of the import taxes in Taiwan.

For example, the price of the C32 in Taiwan is as much as the S500 in US.
