Problem with steering and acceleration
I have a 2006 C 230 (V6) and I got it last September. I took it in for Service A and a few other minor things. They gave me another 06 C 230 and it is faster and the steering is much lighter. What could cause these issues? Or could the rental have some updates (it has 2,000 less miles than mine) that mine doesn't? I did notice that mine did not have the lumbar on the passenger seat and the rental did. Also, mine does not have the audible beep for locking and unlocking. I have the advisor looking into the audible and I will let him know about the steering and acceleration tomorrow. There are no mods to the car.

I noticed that the steering was lighter too on the 2006 loaner that I got (06C230 explained it on the thread...)

I've had an '06 C230 as well as an '06 C280 as loaners before, both with build dates of 8/05, and the C230's steering was pretty heavy whereas the C280's was very light. I just thought the sport models had heavier steering and luxury's were lighter. Maybe they changed the C230's after august of 05

the steering was alot lighter in the 06, its easy to use, but I perfer the hard "sporty" steering that the older w203s give. It reminds me of my dad's friends 1990 Porsche 924

Yea, totally agree here. Having a 2005 C230K SS, I have to say, the steering is top notch. The feel, the precision, and the response allow me to turn very accurately. Comparing the steering to the BMW M3 (non competition package model), that is one thing that my C230 is significantly better.
I test drove the 06 C230 when it first came out and I didn't notice any change in the steering.
I'm surprised that they would change the 06 C230 so much in the middle of the model year. Some changes described in the first post were lumbar support on the passenger seat and beeping during locking and unlocking.

Yeah the dealer said there was nothing they could do. I was suprised too. I like it, I jus didnt want anything to be wrong with the car. But I assume the $218 Service A fee fixed everything...
