The mechanical differences between the C7 (evolution) and non-C7 are the C7:

1. Deletes the exhaust resignator for a louder, deeper exhaust sound.
2. 17 inch v.s. 16 inch tires
3. The manauals get a short shifter.

It is possible the lack of a resignator could increase the HP, but It can't be more than one or two HP.

This is for 2002 - early 2004.

My C320 has four cats, one muffler, and no resignator. Also, note I said 2002 - early 2004. The 04.5 and 05 may be different. If your resignator is before the left and right bank pipes merge, you are looking at one of the two catalytic converteres per bank.

My 03 C7 230k doesn't have one. Maybe the 320 c7s didn't have it removed. And yes, there was no C7 in 2005.

The C320's do not have the resignator either. IN 2007, the evolution package was standard on the C Coupes, hence no C7 package.

The C7 Package is basically the European Evolution package with 17 inch wheels, metal peddles, body colored door handles, short shifter (manuals only), no resignator and one or two other things. In 2004.4 the C7 package became standard on the coupes. In late 2003 - 2006, MB started shipping the "WZ" sedans which was a separate sport model.

C230K Coupe/Orion/C4/C5/CD/AMG Spoiler/V60/TeleAid, 2 MGB's
In BoyRacer land....
17 inch wheels = 2hp
metal peddle covers = 2hp
body colored door handles = 1hp,
short throw shifter = .9oz weight savings worth 1.1hp
no resinator =1hp and a deeper tone worth .9hp
and one or two other things = at least 30hp

This brings the non-C7 192hp rated car up to at least 230hp woth the C7 accessories.
(ok...I was kidding...it's really all just appearance and aesthetics)

I'd agree, except for the two I've left (spelling correction free ). Hey, for $750, it was a real bargain, imho.

It was a no-brainer. Of course I didn't notice the option until the day after I ordered the car.
