Plastic "hinges" on bottom/front of backseat?

Mounted just below, and in front of the bottom portion of the rear seat in my '02 C240 are two or three black plastic things that like look like part of a hinge? Exactly what are these?

thanks
Jim

The hinge allows you to fold your rear seats up so you can drop the back of the seats flush parallel to the ground so you store long objects in your trunk.

Hmm? But I don't have the fold-flat rear seats. I guess it's easier to install the hinge in all models.

thanks

Maybe it allows you to hide an amplifier under the seat.

Yep, I've got them on my non-C3 '02 C240 as well.

If anything, it allows you to clean up the dust that gets under the seat and hunt for change, lipstick, sunglasses, pens, etc.

i'll tell you exactly what these are... they are plastic covers for the bolts that hold down the back seat... i have to go buy 4 at the dealer because they've all cracked from taking the backseat off so often... had to do so to run wires into my trunk. the way to correctly take them off if ur interested is like this: 1- get a small screwdriver and under the plastic piece there is a space to put the screwdriver through to puch the clip up. 2- push clip up. 3-pull cover off. 4- stare at it and wonder how much your dealer would hhave charged you for doing this.
