Front turn signals -> LED help
Here's what I've done so far:
I have (2) 1157A LED bulbs which are the proper replacements for the factory bulbs, form factor-wise.
I have (2) 6ohm, 50W resistors (the same as were used for the LED lights in the trunk).
I plugged the two LED bulbs into the factory sockets, and of course recieved the bulb-out error.
I then started to see if I could figure out a good place to wire in the resistors. First I attached the resistor leads to the contact prongs on the side of the socket, and wired the prongs to the contact points on the inside of the light housing with a couple lengths of spare wire. Turned on the hazards, and the bulb lit up just fine. This gave me hope. But I was still (and am still) at a loss as to where/how to actually wire in the resistors. I tried running some jumpers from the contacts on the socket outside and wired the resistor there, but the bulb never lit while the resistor did get warm (ie: it was doing what it should).
Basically, the only success I've had was hooking the resistor directly to the prongs on the socket, then running a jumper wire from the prongs to the contacts in the socket housing. If anyone could help me to figure out where the socket is actually getting its power (ie: which wires are feeding it that I could easily tap into) or why the bulb is only lighting if the contacts in the housing are jumpered to the prongs on the socket, I'd be very grateful.
Thanks,
Meph
