Help me replace my C Class!!
Have you considered MB at all?
I know the 5 may be more sporty than an E, but I just saw a ton a of MB commericals last night on the History Channel (yes, it was a Friday night spent w/ the history channel
).They said a new E 350 for $527 (or something like that) a month. Not sure what the $ down, but I thought that sounded like a GREAT deal. I remember when the E was new, the pitch was "own an E for less than $20 a day" ($599 per month lease).
The savings over the 5, (2400 per year), will def. add up and may help w/ some of your mods in the future.

The M45 is a good choice. However, the Infiniti service leaves something to be desired. Lexus, they treat you much better.
However, with the GS, the GS's rear seats are uncomfortable (very straight up) and the ceiling is low. Plus the trunk is tiny.
I know that I'd be happy with a 530i, I'd even consider the E350. The new E350 (2007) with the Direct Control package (upgraded steering and suspension) is going to be top notch in terms of steering feel. It'll be nice and firm yet fully responsive and communicative.
I recommend the 530i and the E350. Also, if you are a younger drive like me, the E350's insurance premiums will be much lower (the difference is so substantial that it'll cover the maintenance that the BMW includes).
Personally, I'd be happier with the 530i or the E350. The M45 is a great car, no doubt, but it's controversial, it's going to depreciate like a rock (you seem to get in and out of your cars pretty quick), and I'd actually take the M35 over the M45 because for the extra 1 liter, you only get 55 more hp.
