Pros/Cons of 2002/2003 C230 Coupe Purchase
I'm looking into buying one of these coupes and don't really know if I should get a 2002 or 2003. Other than the engine change is there anything else that I should know about? If I can get a better deal on the 2002 if that reason enough to get it? Or what if I'm able to get a 2003 for around the same price? Thanks for any help you can give to this wanna be MB owner...

depends on what you're looking for. the 2003 supposedly gets better gas mileage, but has a brand new (not as well-proven) engine with lower displacement (1.8L in the 2003 versus 2.3L in the 2002). the 2002 engine might get less gas mileage but has more displacement thus more torque and HP over an increased range, as well as the flexibility for modifications such as a pulley.

2000 300m, 2003 C-Coupe
If you are not planning mods, get the 2003. The 1.8 is a great engine, I am extreamly pleased with mine. The less HP and Torque is undetectable. The smoothness of the 1.8 is very noticable. Just the folks with modified 2.3's seems to have an issue with the down sizing. All others with 2.3 are against the 1.8 because they have a passion for the Coupe with the 2.3. Honestly, drive them both and decide for yourself. You might be able to pick up a 2002 with $1000 off and save a little dough.
It looks like I'll have to get an '03 since I can't find any 6 speeds that aren't loaded anywhere...
