Question Water Damage!!

Hey everyone!! I am Leyla, i'm actually new to this place, i have a 2003 c240 4matic, i got it like less than two months ago....but unfortunately already I ran into a huge huge problem. I live in Maryland and we had soooo much rain thius week and today was the worst, so When i was going home there was an area by my house flooded so there was a lot of water, i went through it and the water washed over me like a wave, I got out of there but then my car malfunctioned and it just locked up and now I am afraid I ruined everything and my car is basically totalled, I am so scared, can any of you let me know if its possible to mess up the car compeltely in this sitaution, the car turns on and the lights work, but I cant switch gears or move the steering wheel!!! It just happened to I am scared and want some pointers and if i should not start my car and get it towed to the dealership...thanks!!

Leyla

welcome to the forum.

i'm sorry to hear your situation. anyway, if you cannot move your steering wheel i think it is safe to say you should call a towing truck and have it checked out - i dont see any other options here.

best of luck.

The only advice I can give you is, do not try to start the engine if the water got into the intake. Have a machanic check it out first before you try to do anything else to the car.

Is the car covered under comprehensive insurance? Didn't know it was raining so much in Maryland right now.

Is @ Home
from your description, my guess is that water probably got into your intake system and into your engine. i wouldn't suggest starting the car

You said the wheel and transmission won't unlock. The front SAM might be wet, or worse damaged. I hope when it dries out everything will be OK. If that happened to me, I would have had the car towed to a paint shop, and put it in the booth with the heat on for half a day to dry the water before rust or corrosion got a foothold. A day later, it is too late for that.
