Air Cond and SAM question.

I bought my wife a 2001 C240 from Mercedes Canada and there have been a lot of light failures and bulb replacements. Sick of this happening all the time, I took it to a different dealer (the one I take my E500 to). They diagnosed it as a SAM failure. After charging us hundreds of dollars in bulbs (which I am not happy with) they changed the SAM (under waranty) and then the car MFD stated that a whole NEW set of bulbs needed to be replaced including one of the Xenon's - So I paid to have these replaced even though these bulbs were fine before I took it there.. (maybe I should complain). Anyway, the day after they replaced the SAM the AC started acting up.

When you turn on the car, the AC blows hot air until the car gets moving (and being stuck in traffic is unbearable). It is awful.. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be and could the SAM computer affect this?

Thanks guys.

Did your dealer program the SAM module? There were several bulb recalls for the front indicators. They replaced the entire bulb housing and pigtail. Your dealer should know about this. Xenon's should not go out and usually never just go out unless they are not receiving power. Xenon's usually dim down.

He stated that they replaced the SAM module with a new one.

Do you know the TSB for this?

Thanks Sunman for the info.

I'm not sure that there are any control module adaptations/settings for the A/C in the front SAM but when the dealer replaced it, he should have transferred all coding from the old SAM to the new SAM. Or, he should have checked and set all codes in control module adaptations.

Have them peform a quick test, check for codes in AAC and check all coding/settings in AAC.

All AAC adaptations are present in the EIS (ignition switch).
