Question New York Boroughs / Long Island - MB mechanic

Ok this isn't a rant but more of a tale of my experience; remember I still adore my MB C320 2002.

To make a long story short, I purchased a used MB C320 2002; with a 3rd party (worst mistake ever) warranty. Ok... Now a month into my purchase I get a service B due in X amount of miles; fine I'll do it myself no biggy. Did the service B, a few mile's later I get battery under-voltage, fine I replace the battery; then alternator error, fine replace the alternator...Finally the car just dies and it's because of a blown fuse... this is when im fed up and take it to a authorized mb service tech. 119.29$'s to repair a fuse + the actual cost of the fuse 1.19$'s. Ok now in my head I'm never doing that... So now I have a Oxygen Converter check engine light, well It's a "PO432" Main Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2) error (according to my mechanic). So I go to the MB Service.w/e... and it dosent know what side it is It could be either 1-4. Fully understandable the piece cost 200$'s or more and + the service itself which will probably be another good 119$'s... so now my question is...

Does anybody who lives in New York / Long Island know of a Mechanic that handles MB's and that has access to MB's tools / parts that does not charge a 119$ fee just to check the damn car or that does not mind going thru a 3rd party warranty?

Thanks for you'r time guys

Hey,

Let me ask you something, doesn't your third party warranty cover this stuff at the dealership?

What area of Long Island do you live?

how long did you buy this car for? shouldn't your 3rd party warranty cover the work you've done minus the services?

Yes and No; it cover's abot 80%, the catch is that I have to pay out of my pocket and then show the receipt's to my warranty; but you know I wasn't going to buy a car with NO type of warranty..that's just plain dumb in my opinion. I live in Valley Stream, Long Island.

I've had the car for about a month 1/2. Like I said above, it does but the catch is that I have to pay out of pocket 1st, then....

This place looks really nice but too bad they don't have one of these spots here in Queens The nitrogen seems interesting for filling up on our tires.

Queens is not that far.

Kraft is also a certified installer for Tire Rack.

I just had a new set of Michellin Pilot Exalta's shipped to him and filled with nitrogen for installation on my car.

Excellent service.

Does the Nitrogen really make a difference? I know they have nice advertising for it on better ride quality and stuff but how do you feel with them. I guess if you are low on air for example 2-3 psi, than you cannot use regular air to fill it back up.

I haven't noticed a major change in ride with the nitrogen.
The major difference is that there is less loss of tire pressure because the nitrogen is not affected by temperature changes in the same way oxygen does.
If you need to add some air to the tire you can add it even with the Nitrogen.

yea this place isnt far at all from queens, i travel between boroughs all the time. its exit 13 on the belt pkwy (Flat lands) Thanks for the link & # this guy looks extremely proffesional, I booked an appointment asap. I believe the cross island south links you directly to the belt pkwy either that or taking the grand central to the jackie robison all the way down to bk then getting back onto the belt pkwy and then to exit 13. now for my next ?, does anybody know were I can find an affordable navigation(COMMAND) system? :-\ 2002, C320 (Built In)

haha, i was just about to say that I already checked his website out. I sent him an email he never responded. I heard he was offering the units for like 1900 w/ install. personally I'm 20 and a full time college student + full time job and do not have that kind of $ but I heard his service is quite nice. I was aiming for something a bit cheaper.

Then go for a portable unit - Tom Tom, Garmin, Lowrance.
They are not as pricey but are not the factory unit.
Steve gets the job done in all of 20 min.
Its amazing to watch him do it, considering the idiot dealers said that it was not feasible because of the amount of rewiring required.
Do it right and get the factory system if you can afford it.

I got a tom tom and it works much better than my oem nav in my clk 350 (traded in). It even hooks up with my razr phone thru bluetooth.

I originally wanted a nav system from Steve but he never responded to my email/pm as well and I got impatient so I bought a portable one instead.
