getting back to this thread... when I had my car.. iw ould not even bother trying to race anyone because I knewi would lose hands down... but wheni had my acura vigor.. then i would take on the civs for fun... and when i mean race.. pretty much it ends after about 7-10 seconds from the light turning green.. either way i slow down quickly coz i dont need any tickets....

There is so much superiority complex here. Weren't we all at one time a "ricer"? I remember drooling all over a Mustang II back in high school thinking what I could do to soup it up The II was in all aspects a pos as I can remember.
These are kids guys... and kids do kid-ish things. Only now they do it with Civics and Neons cuz there is nothing else out there. Eventually they will grow up and develop a Zen for a Benz like "us".
Just enjoy the scene and the pang of nostalgia, gentlemen. We were there

So when we say "don't waste you time" its not that we're superior to them, its that our car wasn't designed to compete at the same level.
Yes I remember wanting a sports car to soup up to impress my friends, now I want a luxury car to impress the ladies. I grew up, now I value my life/car/insurance rating/driver's licence more than impressing a "ricer".
So lets sum it up, a C230K is 3300 lbs, a Civic is 2700 lbs, if you want to race, buy a lighter car without 8 air bags and a host of safety and comfort features.

Think our Coupes are better for auto-x and once you learn to drive it to the limit, you will be surprized, the cars you can beat. I just do not think that the coupe is made for drag racing. My son's Civic EX has a turbo (up to 17 lbs boost) and goes like hell, but at a auto-x different story. I like both cars and each has it's good and bads.

All in the family plus my other son's 1996 Acura Integra, which would give me a good run at an auto-x, had a good teacher.
