problems with engine.....loss of power

Started driving my car yesterday and a attempted my once a morning chirp into second year. boy was i in for a shocker. once i hit 4000 rpm, i felt a significant loss of power and couldnt' even get a light whistle out of the tires. this power loss was noticible in first and second gear. i took it into the dealership yesterday, they took it out for a drive, called me and said they couldn't see anything wrong. i got my car back today and what do you know, same thing. i can't get a squeak out of my tires now and it's such a noticible loss that i have no idea how the two technitians who drove it couldn't have noticed it. just called the dealership back and i'm going back in in about an hour to ride with the head technitian. this is really making me mad now. anyone else experience any similar problems? i'll let you all know what the verdict is after this visit.

well, the cars do have an intercooler and when its hot they do make less hp than when they are cold. I have seen the dyno runs where 3 runs were made all 5 minutes apart and there is a loss of 10hp between 1-3. What gas octane are you running, bad gas maybe.
keep us posted.

Well...i doubt it's a hot intercooler causing this. it happens in the morning when i first drive the car and also when it's been out for awhile. didn't think of the possibility of "bad gas". come to think of it, i just refilled two days ago....93 octane, but not the same gas i usually fill up with......??? hmmmmm

that could be it. I only use Amoco 93 octane gas, with an occasional gallon or two of 100 octane just for fun.

You might be activating the ESP in your attempt. This would explain the loss of power. Try it with the ESP switched off (on the dash).

What fun? Our cars can't benefit from that.

What brand of gas do you usually use and what brand did you fill it up with this time?

found out the problem

Well, after much frustration driving my car with half the power, I took after the advice of tommy and added a half a tank of 100 octane to what I had previously (which was 93 Amoco by the way). The car's got all it's power back now. I wish I had a way to prove to the BP that they have some "bad gas" there. I was shocked that it came from such a respected company, but that's definitely what the problem was.....so I thank you for your insight and be careful what gas you buy!!!
