I assume that you have a C230. This must be hard to explain without pictures. There are screws outside the bumper and also inside the trunk.

-OUTSIDE-

Look under the rear wheel and find a screw that connects the bumper and the quarter panel. Take that off, make sure it is not the screw for the side bumper strip. I believe there are 2 screws outside. This applies to both left and right sides of the car.

-INSIDE THE TRUNK-

Put the carpet up where the spare tire is located. There's a plastic assembly close to the trunk latch, take that off ( you can use a flathead screwdriver to remove the little plastic squares that holds the plastic assembly).

Remove the carpet cover behind each taillights. From there, you'll see a NUT- also connects the rear bumper and quarter panel, take it off at each side.

Now, close to the another plastic assembly that holds the spare tire, you'll see 2 cleats (?) with nuts-- large one, take those off. There are 6 of those you have to take off.

Behind each taillights, look at the very bottom and you'll see 2 more nuts, take them off at each side. In order to take the rear bumper off , a large beam ( ? ) behing the rear bumper should be attached when taking the bumper off.

I guess you are ready to pull the bumper out- Pull the whole rear bumper assembly towards you.

Becarefull not to break a SRS ( 2 square things?? in each side, inside the rear bumper)

I hope this make sense, I apolgize for the some parts I didn't know what it is called.

GOOD LUCK.

PM me if you are stuck, lol.
