Something is wrong...

Alright folks - I'd like your input/ideas. I'm no car-mechanic, but something sounds wrong with my car. It isn't driving any differently, but whenever I step on the gas, I hear a VERY loud high pitch sound, as if my car has a turbo/supercharger or something (and I have an 06 C280)... to narrow things down, I stepped on the gas while in park, and it made the same noise - so it doesn't have anything to do with the tires or 4matic, etc. from what I can tell. Opening the hood and listening (while I had someone else slightly push down on the gas), the sound seems to be coming from the front of the engine - perhaps the "belt" ? Any thoughts on this one? Its been making noises like this for 2 days but seems to be getting louder. I plan on bringing it into the dealership tomorrow morning first thing.

I don't know what it it, but I hope you get it to the dealership before the sound stops.

Uh, could be anywhere from a vacuum leak to a loose belt. But it does sound serious and you should take it in ASAP. Report back and let us know what it is.

Well this ended up being a noisy belt pulley... they replaced that part. Also had a minor molding issue fixed while I was in there. All is well again :-).

PS - the last time I was in for service, I got my ipod, Audio Please wait ... bug fixed! I'll be posting the part number that was replaced which fixed everything. Apparently there is now a bulletin for this problem.
