Does back pressure create more boost?

I was reading an article that said for a supercharged engine some back pressure is good because thats what creates the boost which gives you the torque. They also said by adding a header you lose boost/torque because you are losing backpressure but you gain the horsepower in the higher rpms. I will attach the link later. I know there is this whole backpressure theroy (thats its bad), but since my engine is supercharged I was hoping someone knows if this theroy is different for supercharged cars.

Although I can't give you any engineering theory talk about this, I have read, over in the C32 AMG forum, that there is a fine balance of backpressure needed to utilize peak power from a supercharged engine. Some people put headers on C32's with positive results, some have put very free-flowing exaust systems on with a loss of power. Try researching over there. I think you'll get some good feedback to this question.

Good luck.
