Replacing Canadian instrument cluster with US

I've been searching around and was wondering if you can just switch out the speedometer gauge that displays KMH to MPH. The car is a 2002 c240 (canadian). I figure I could just buy a new instrument cluster, but would prefer to just swap out the gauge. Anyone know the part # to replace this or where to get this replaced?

Thanks

I tried to make a swap on an Audi and was informed that it would be in violation of federal law.

You have to buy a new instrument cluster. Make sure it's new and not used. Have the dealer copy all the data over to the new one and you're set.

I have a better, cheaper, faster option for you. In the 2002 you should still be able to do this (check in the manual) but set the center display to show the speed in the lower left (where it usually shows the temperature) and set the units to MPH. These are both options available in the instrument cluster menu settings. If you want the display to be bigger, leave the temperature monitor setting as-is and one of the menu options under the mileage (includes mileage to service, engine temperature, and oil level) has the speed. The only catch here is you have to move to it every time you turn on the car, since it defaults to the mileage display. I'll take a pic or two later when I get my camera from work.
