c55 Steering Wheel Update

I did some more research on adding the c55 amg steering wheel to older cars. Although the c55 amg steering wheel is a 3 pin setup, the connector itself is physically different. This difference came up after the w211 in 03. This 3 pin connector is a locking 3 pin connector. I thought the c55 wheel would work in my car but it did not. The steering wheel controls do not work at all. After doing some other mods to my car related to steering wheels, here is what I came up with.

I installed a different 3 pin steering wheel in my car from a CLk and it works fine.

I then tried to install a w211 steering wheel and again same problem. It has the locking 3 pin connector.

I then changed the steering wheel control module to a w211 and then added the w211 steering wheel. This setup works and I am fairly certain that the c55 wheel will work as well. I am not sure about the tiptronic controls working. They should work though as these buttons are tied to the rear of the airbag assy.

So if you want the c55 steering wheel, you have to change the steering control module. I am not sure if anything else has to be changed but it seems like other parts are the same. Also, if you change the steering control module and have voice control installed, it may no longer work if you care for it.

after changing to the new MOST system in my car, the voice control system did not trigger until I changed to the newer steering wheel control module.

I hope it didn't sound too complicated

I think the mod would be a direct swap on 05 models.

Sunnil, I see that you have the keyless go handle and shifter. Did you get that option to work in ur C-Class?

I'd be interested Sun man but my only concern is that I am not technical as you are. If if were an easy install then i would no issue but I am not as handy as you are. Dont you need to update the computer with the star diag? PM me details.....

Speed Shift

Searched but couldn't find anything on it.

Would it be possible to add this feature to non-amg cars?

Be more specific. I'm assuming that you are referring to the C55 paddle shifter on the steering column?

here you go...

AMG Speedshift™ programming provides up to 35% faster gear changes, automatically downshifts during braking, prevents unwanted upshifting while cornering, offers one-touch selection of the best gear for maximum acceleration (Shift into Optimum Gear), and features torque converter lockup in all forward gears. Transmission also includes driver-selectable comfort mode and instrument-cluster display of selected gear range/mode. Fingertip manual mode allows direct-access shifting through forward gears via buttons on back of upper steering-wheel spokes (left button downshifts, right button upshifts) or via Touch Shift feature of shift lever, and will automatically intervene only to select 1st gear when the vehicle stops. In Standard and Comfort modes, the steering-wheel buttons operate the Touch Shift feature.

the paddle shift feature would be great, but i'm more interested in the programming to achieve the 35% faster gear changes and other features listed above.

Came up with this search result:
LINK: C55 Steering Wheel update

The option you are referring to only became available with the C55.

Gonna merge your thread now.

Running out of things to mod the car.
Got Kleemann K Box and only that - since it's 180 K SS .
Got AMG Body Kit .. AMG wheels 17'

here is the question if C55 paddle shifter wont work on my 180K .
Is there any other way/brand can offer the shifting device on the steering wheel to my C ?
Thanks
