How long does shipping from Germany take?
I'm anxiously awaiting arival of my coupe, and am wondering how long shipping takes from Germany. My coupe was built last week.

Vince, you can expect delivery about 6 to 7 weeks after start of production.
Just hang in there and be assured the wait will be worth it!

My 2002 C240 was completed production around 7/25, a week earlier than expected. It was on a ship by 7/27, and arrived in Baltimore on 8/7. I took delivery on 8/14. It might take longer to get to California.
BTW, your dealer will be able to tell you when the car is placed on a ship and the ETA to the port. He just signs on to the MB order system. Just call and bug him.

Are you sure that the car is being built in Germany? A lot of the coupes are being built in their new state of the art factory down in South Africa. I know here in the UK about half of the coupe's are German built and half are South African.
I wasn't even aware they were building in SA until my dealer said I was lucky enough to be getting a German built one.
All in all it took 3months for mine to arrive, ordered it in June and received it on the 7th September. Believe me when I say it was worth every penny and every minute of waiting. Already put 6k on the clock in three months.

It appears that the South African factory only builds cars for right hand drive markets. All coupes sold in North America are built in Germany, but this may change if coupes are built in MB's Brazilian plant.
