01 C320 Transmission Fluid Capacity/Minimum

So I decided to change my transmission oil today...it was a good idea since the oil was way too DIRTY. Anywho we all know mercedes does not include a dipstick so after draining the transmission oil from the mercedes I didnt quite know exactly how many quarts to put back in. First i dumped in about 3 quarts (3 bottles of synthetic tran. oil bought from dealer). The thing is my mechanic has a dipstick he bought for cars that do not include dipsticks. He checked it and told me that 3 quarts is just enough to fill it up. In my head im thinking that it should be around 5-7 quarts...am I wrong or is my mechanic wrong?
