Karmann is a company that mostly deal with auto manufacturers to supply and develop the soft tops. i.e. the CLK convertible, XK8/R, BMW 3er, etc. Usually they don't do customization, but since Mercedes-Benz does not plan to sell the C-coupe convertible Karmann is likely to start customize for people who want their C-coupe to have open top.

Karmann is a car manufacturer in their own right and currently produce some Audi and Mercedes cars.

Some new info on the C320 coupe. I just noticed this on MB Germanys webpage:

"Durchgängig kräftig sind die fünf Benzinmotoren: Vom C 180 KOMPRESSOR mit 105 kW/143 PS über den C 200 CGI mit Benzindirekteinspritzung (125 kW/170 PS) bis zum C 320 mit 160 kW/218 PS zeichnen sich alle Aggregate durch eine große Leistungsbandbreite, beeindruckende Elastizität und dabei günstigen Verbrauch aus. Die athletischen Dieselmotoren mit Common-Rail-Technologie überzeugen durch Laufruhe und Sparsamkeit. Hierbei ist der C 30 CDI AMG das sportliche Top-Aggregat mit überragenden Leistungswerten."

I guess this means the C320 coupe is not a rumour. Its not yet listed in the pricelist though.

I think one reason for this is because the lowest version always sells better, so they would rather sell CLK320s than 230s. I wish they offered more individual options though...

Too bad we won't get that C30 diesel AMG here. That 400 ft-lbs of torque sounds like fun. I wonder if MBUSA will import the C320 Coupe? From the advertising they seem to like emphasizing how (relatively) inexpensive it is - it makes me wonder if they want to add a more expensive variant (although there is no reason not to).

Too bad there aren't really any tuners doing anything to get more output from the V6 motors to take advantage of the extra displacement. With just a pulley and some headers the 2002 C230K should probably have around 250 hp. I think I'll stick with my 4-banger.

The 3.2L is going to be history soon and the 3.5L will be coming to replace it. This was in autospies recently.

Lingenfelter engines have a rep of extreme unreliablity. If I were going to have forced induction Chevy, I would take it to Gale Banks. And the 405 Z-06 is sufficient for me.
