The LAST thing I would do is drive it until 17k miles as they suggest to see IF it smoothes out. Because if it is THEN still unrepairable, they are gonna say, well you still put on 17k miles on it, so we cant give you compensation for those miles under lemon law, etc. Trust me on this one.
They cannot repair it, bring it to other dealer for the 4th time, tell them what the other dealer has done so far, and when this second dealer cannot rectify the issue either, call your salesman and notify them of the issue you have and request a new car. If they dont do anything, notify them you will just have to file lemon law.
