Anyone ever been in a side impact accident that caused their side torso airbags to go off? Please give an opinion of the airbags, and if you think they're safe for kids.

I didn't realize the W203 family has occupant weight sensors. The only thing I've heard of for auto-disable of airbags is the "Baby Smart" child seat sensors.
But the question isn't because I want the airbags disabled. I want the airbags deployed, because I've been hearing more and more accounts of side collision deaths from SUVs ramming into the side of the vehicle. i want the airbags to protect my children. However, I understand there are types of airbags that are dangerous (to children) and some that are safe. i want to find out if these are safe.

MB has a reputation as being a pioneer in automobile safety. I would assume if there is a concern regarding children & rear airbags(which are probably the primary occupant of rear seats), MB more than likely would have addressed the issue.
