DIY installation of AVIC & other aftermarket HU's for W203 (Warning! lots of images!)
Questions:
1. How did you get the whires from the head unit in the back for the amp.
2. Is the bose sub going to work with the new amp?
3. Did you still connect the center speaker from the dash? If yes, how?
4.Could I place the new amp where the bose amp sits right now? I do not have an amp yet so I will look for something smaller thet could maybe fit there.
5. Is it possible to run all the speakers on the main units built in amp. or it has to be a separate one?
6. I understand that the vehicle speed sensor is under the fuse box. Is that correct? If so, how do I remove the fuse box to get to the VSS?
Thank you very much and I hope that this will not be to much trouble for you.
Greetings, John

Does the coupe have a VSS or not? If it does where is it. Inside the fuse box, or underneath the fuse box? Please help with a "translation" of that thread.
My friend that is going to do all the whireing said that I have to have the VSS othewhise it will not work.
I just want that thing in there allready. Right now it's laying on the flor in my bedroom.
The VSS was exactly where it sais in those older posts. It was hard to take the fuse box out but we did it.
Overall I am very happy with the results and the unit itself is great.
I have my 30gig Ipod video conected through the AV input and moovies are not bad at all. Sound is great.

Thank You guys. Since my friend did not know how to hack the system we will have to go back there and do it right
. I found the hack on avic forums and I hope it will work. It's a little diffrent than Z1 but, easyer. Thanks Fanito for enlightenning the way for the rest of us.I didn't get the Ipod adaptor yet but, Ill get it today from CC and put it in when I will do the hack.
The unit works great. I have the AV cable for my Ipod and the video quality is good.
Overall I am more than happy with it.

I have pictures of the stereo setup i have for my ride. Is this a double DIN setup? I ask because the stereo looks too wide to be a double DIN configuration. Anways, with this pic, can any body tell me if i can still install the avic-Z1. I want to know before i look into ordering the avic-Z1
Note: This pic was obtained from http://www.classyauto.com/v/Mercedes+C230/51658. This is NOT my car but has the stereo in this car has the same configuration as that in mine.

hmmm this is very interesting for me.
So i have Audio 10 CD with bose sound system on my scoupe.
cla1000 you're still using the bose speakers, right? and the pioneer is powering them? correct..?
I wanted to connect a PC (with RCA or Jack/Mini-Jack..doesn't matter the plug) to my bose sound system..so the bose speakers could give the sound that comes out of the computer. does anyone has any idea on how can i do this? Audio 10 doesn't have any Aux Input so.. i would need to install an extra amp in the place of the bose amp? ahmmm.. any help would be appreciated.
thanks in advance,
cla1000 you're still using the bose speakers, right? YES
and the pioneer is powering them? correct..?CORRECT, except the bose sub that is now powered by a POS sony amp. That sits in the same place where the bose amp was. I ordered a new 2 OHM amp (300W MTX) to replace the sony, because right now when the volume on the sub is a little higher, the sony will shut down. The sony amp is a 4 ohm one.
For right now I would like to keep a clean interior so I want my amp hidden behind the pannell.
