no more tint!!

i just got a ticket for tint today!! not the first time but it's the first time after they raised the price. before it was $97 now it's $287. I knew it was comming I got %5 all around and the windshield is %35. and i went to lond without getting pulled over. I think I'am going to go back to %20 all around and %35 on the windshield. BTW how much are tint tickets in your area. maybe i'll take post some pics before i take it off.

DAMN!!! Are you kidding? Nearly 300 dollars for tint?

I don't know what's the penalty here in California, although i know it increased. Sorry about the news.

Haha... the penatly in Cali [speaking from 1st time experience] is merely a fix it ticket and i think $40... Thats not counting the price to have the tint removed. Course I've only got hit for it once.

Speaking of which im getting my tint job tomorrow. all the way around. gonna be nice!

%5 all around and 35% for the front windshield? Can you even see at night or when it's raining hard? You are a danger to everyone. Are you a limo? Even a limo don't have the front windshield tinted. $287 is way too low!

I got pulled over for tints last month here in NYC. 30+30 on each side. so a grand total of $120 and I went to the DMV, saw the judge and he dropped the price down to $50

I pick up my new E280 Thursday and the tint is.........

60% all around and 40% on the windshield. Tickets.....we don't have any stinking tickets here, Speeding? NO Radar here, Driver's License? in the office, Car registration, in the office, the cops here do not want to go to the trouble of writing a ticket, they just ask for some cigarette/coffee money, usually around equivelent of USD 5 to 10.

Hopefully you've read about the tint scratching issues that our cars have. You will need to have moleskin, felt, or other soft lining installed in your window trims to make sure your tint doesn't scratch from opening/closing the windows. My first tint installer said their tint was scratch proof (yea right!) then seemed to develop amnesia when I came back after a couple weeks with scratched up tints to have it replaced. I made sure I had it done right this time.

If you have a friendly Doctor, ask him/her to write you a note saying that you need the dark tint to help prevent Melanoma (skin cancer) or that you are simply sun sensitive. In Arizona, that note, sent to the DMV will get you a fancy looking certificate that exempts you from any tint regulations. I would imagine all states have some sort of exemption like that.
Kind of like a "get out of jail free" card.

Not that I am advocating doing anything illegal....
