Engine Modifications for a Newbie
I am new to this forum but not so new with the Mercs...
I've owned a 2001 C180 CL203 Sportcoupe since 2001.
My wife drives it, but I still like to take it out for a spin now and then...
It now has approx. 40K miles (Cyprus is tiny)...
The c180 is the 2.0L non-kompressor engine of 95kw.
I would like to ask for any possible option for modding this engine...
It feels so slow, especially compared to my 2004 c230k.
Anyway...
If anyone has experience with this let me know...
I may even consider an engine swap if this is possible for a reasonable amount... I can find a c230k 1.8L engine from Germany for less than 4000eur...
Thanks...
I hope this is in the correct forum...

2001? Cool. We didn't get it till 2002.
I wonder how many other people here have that engine?
Not in the US.

It only lasted for 2001...
After 2001 all of the 4-cylinder sportcoupes came with the kompressor... That's probably why there are not many mods available for this engine...
I was considering an upgraded exhaust system (Eissemann, Brabus etc), better filters (K&N) different spark plugs, but I do not know if it is worth it...
Parts are extremely hard to find and very expensive here in Cyprus... For instance....A Carlsson bodykit for my c230ss costs approx. 7,000 US$... I can not imagine how much a kleeman kompressor would cost...
