What did everyone pay?

What did everyone pay?
www.edmunds.com publishes what they call TMV (True Market Value) on the C-class. It's supposed to
be what consumers are actually paying for in the
market place. I am very surprised to see
a TMV that's actaully slightly below dealer
invoice.
I am interested in finding out what everybody
paid for their car. $1500 under MSRP? Any feedback
would be appreciated.

1997 GMC Yukon (tow vehicle)
2002 C320 (to be added)

i gave MSRP for mine. But that was over a year ago when they first came out. I had the 3rd one in country according to dealer. First in NC i know. But now if you see a 2002, there may be a nice rebate on it.

You might want to do a quick search of the Forum, this one has come up before.
With 2002's basically being 'year-old' cars, mbusa is offering the dealers factory cash to move them...hence a TMV below invoice.
See below:
https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ht=dealer+cash
BTW: I paid $1,600 under MSRP for my '03, or at least I plan to if it ever gets delivered!

$1700 under MSRP. i didn't negotiate; i got a discount because my employer has a partnership program with the dealer. :p
i probably should have negotiated but the discount put me in the range i was willing to pay so i really didn't feel like going through the hassle. i bought my car on may 10, 2002.

I've been to two dealers in my area and the best I could do was $1000 off a 2002(don't have what I want) or $500 off a 2003( I can order). They tell me they're selling so well that they won't go any lower. When I showed them Edmunds TMV they just laughed and said sorry...:o

I paid full price but got an outstanding deal on my trade in. Also, I got one off the first shipment of 3 and took the one assigned to them as a demo so I didn't have much negotiating power. From what I see the cars tagged at the dealer, they are discounting around $2,500 on the '02 C-coupes.

I got mine in July. I paid full price for it. I would of negotiated with the dealer if I knew that the 2003s were coming out. I didn't think about it, I just wanted the car. Oh well, I love my car and that's all that matters.

Last Jan., I got my coupe for dealer invoice +3%, with no advertising or document fee. That worked out to 28,600 for an '02, auto, c5, silver. They also did the cd changer for about $700 installed. The salesman threw in winter mats and sent a nice gourmet treats gift basket. Best of all, the sale was done all over the phone. I didn't see the saleman or dealership until I went to pick up the car.
(I also got to put $5000 of the purchase price on credit card for frequent flyer miles.)

We are limited in the models that are available in the plan. Basically none of the limited production vehicles.

Just bought a 2002 C320 Wagon today!!
Thanks to all the replies. My wife and I just
bought a 2002 C320 wagon for $6200 under MSRP
today! We are really looking forward to driving
this car. We love MB even though I own a BMW and
also race one, but a MB is just great for the
street. The 1987 300E we have has over 185K miles
on it and still drives like when we got it on
day one.
One question to the group here:
Which CD changer unit will work with the radio
system? Do I have to buy a MB unit? Has anyone
done the installation himself?
Thanks!

Congrats...
CD changer. As far as I know you can only get the MB CD changer which uses fibre optic. You can get it on ebay or from Gaston (@ clairparts.com?).
The installation is also really easy. I did it myself. You can find installation instructions on leonoff.net. I think the SLK instructions should apply. Has anyone used this for the W203?
