I hear ya, I have never been a sunroof fan. We got a ML320 recently as a loaner and took the wife for a long ride and the sunroof was horrible. The booming noise created by wind buffeting was unbearable. I too open the sunroof for the joy of pushing buttons because it's there and then close it within minutes. My biggest concern with the panorama roof was going out on a 100F+ day and roasting with the A/C on full blast.
The connecticut countryside is ideal for a sunroof. We drove down to MB of Greenwich yesterday, and most of the drive was on 2 lane roads winding through rural and forested areas. It great to tool thru that with an open sunroof and enjoy the air and view. Can't wait to enjoy the panoramic roof, open or closed, through the scenic countryside. (The scenery makes up for the 40mph pace. It's also nice to go 10 miles between traffic lights.)

Wink

I wouldn't enjoy my C230 nearly as much without the C7 package. Why just today my car could have potentially caused an accident while I was stopped at an intersection. A family of five in a passing Grand Prix ALL turned to look at my car. I love synchronized staring, but not nearly as much as I like the idea that my car is so attractive, that it poses a danger to society. :p

why would anybody not get the sunroof in a c230? This option makes the car.

Miami...hot..hot...but at nite it is not that hot...especially in the winter. What is the nite time temps around 75 degrees? Perfect when time to open up the sunroof and cruise around...if it is too damn humid just turn up the auto AC and you will be fine.

C7 Package? Why would anybody not get it? $750 for all that stuff? A steal especially if you are getting the 6 speed!

Colors?

Silver is the easiest to keep clean...orion blue is AWESOME...its almost the same blue in the new 2003 SL500!

Forget the oyster color interior...go with the charcol leather or cloth.

Forget powered seats in the C230

I think the best combo would be C230 with
C7
C5
and then pick you color

It's not the heat as much as the noise off the sunroof and the pressure differently causing the buffeting. In some cars like the ML320 it's much noiser and bothers my ears way more than a convertible. I can wear ear protection like on my motorcycles I guess. As for heat, I had a red Acura Legend Coupe with a black interior, black glass sunroof and large back window and it would get so got in there, even with the sunroof closed that the A/C couldn't keep up. It is true that on a balmy evening, cruising at 10-30 mph, a sunroof might make a mediocre substitute for a convertible. I just want them to make the C-Convertible soon.

Sunroofs, like high performance race bikes, sifrboards and convertibles are not for everyone!

I certainly can't justify passing on the C7 package, it's the only option (aside from the roof) that is truly a good value, and when are sport wheels, tires, and all those other goodies ever bargain priced from any mfgr., but Mercedes- it was a wow and clearly a no-brainer for me. I was a tad concerned with ride harshness, so I drove one with it first, it was auto, so I can't comment on the shifter(short throw discussion unfortunately) but it was not harsh at all and I didn't find a big difference honestly, although conering is probably a bit more tenacious. The only disappointment to me about C7 was that ours(US) doesn't come with the 8.5 in. wheels and 245's on the rear to fill out those wheel wells.

I vowed my next car to have a sunroof, but after several drives (in two different cars) I found it to be very loud and intrusive, and when opened fully with the windows shut- two words Warren Buffet!

Other than that I was very surprised by how much fun the car was to drive and it sold me in the first 5 minutes after already being sold on the GTI. It's not as fast as my mr2 turbo but it makes it up in ride and practicality.

MB of Greenwich is a crummy snobotorium that whole place sucks,
I wouldn't buy a coffee from them- forget about a car.

Orion rules!

C230/6speed/Orion Blue/C7/changer- on order due in Feb!!
