What the heck is up with that? When I turn the heat on in my '02 C240 and place the air to go to the feet (straight down position), I get cool air coming out of the vents up high (face vents for lack of a better word).

Anyone have any experience with this?

I think the 02's till had the dial that can blow different temp air than what the climate control is set to. It should be in the middle of the two vents and it will go from red to blue. The vent will blow air according to that dial.

doesn't go from blue to red. just blue.

to the OP, just turn the dial down as far as possible to have to blue showing. That controls the air coming from outside btw.

Thanks for the response guys but let me restate because I may have everyone confused.

I have both heat/air dials turned to maximum heat (solid red). Check out www.installuniversity.com/images/controls.jpg and you can see the positions everything is in.

The two vents in the center above the door lock/unlock blow cool air while my feet get hot air. I would expect to get hot air at my feet and no air anywhere else. Is this normal?

My wife drives this car so when I experienced this I was like, $%$^$&$, another problem.

Thanks again!

Eric

On cold mornings I too like warm air out of the dash vents and foot wells at the same time to warm my hands and feet, but it blows cooler from the dash.

I just checked on my car and when it is set completely to blow at the feet there is a small amount of air from the side dash vents, probably to keep some air flow on the side window to keep them from fogging up.

So, I would have to say it is normal.
