Late to this one... I still love my C320, every day...

And about the Japanese car vs European car thing... This is just my opinion, but the only european car line that interests me is Mercedes-Benz. It's not a brand snobbery, just I have no interest in VWs/Audi's/BMWs (boring), Volvos and Saabs (ugly), or Porsche (out of my league). If it weren't for the appearance of the new C-Class in 2001, I would be driving a Japanese car right now. Acura 3.2TL/S, Infinity G35, Nissan 350Z, Altima 3.5, or some such.

Again, just my opinion, SoCal...

I'm late on this one too, but YES, I'm starting getting sick of my car (or not really the car, but the dealerships and mechanics of MB-Sweden).

I brought my car in with a strange behaving auto gear-box two weeks ago. Today the repair-shop called and told me that my car was fixed. The error was, according to them, in a bad ETS wich they told me they did change. Well - it lasted for approx 500 meters - then the tranny went into "limp-mode" again. Luckily I wasn't more than 500 meters away from the dealership... Well here I am without my car AGAIN!!! ...

...Maybe you unhappy guys & girls would like your cars better if you didn't *******ize them with all of this cheap looking aftermarket junk. After a while, you don't even have a Benz anymore. It is just a rolling junkyard. It amazes me that people purchase MB products that are the most highly enginered cars in the world and then think they can rebuild the car up better than the designers. In the end they don't have quality they paid for, the resale value suffers and as bonus, they have a ride that looks like it belongs to a 16 year old ricer.

Highly engineered, but not engineered to its full potential. Why do you think MKB, Carlsson, Brabus, etc. are in business? These aren't considered cheap mods. When there are thousands of cars just like you, some people enjoy being unique. Everyone, (with a Benz or Bimmer), who puts aftermarket parts in the cars know that the costs pretty much can't be recouped. But that is the price you pay for happiness. That's why it's called a hobby. You don't think it makes sense to spend 5K on wheels? Then I guess it sucks to be you. Warranty my a$$, if you aren't prepared to handle the larger expenses of European car ownership, then you didn't do proper due diligence before you bought.

There is nothing wrong with keeping your car stock as well. It just irks me when people seem to get offended by something that isn't theirs. Sure, the more you pay for a car, the less you would probably do to upgrade it (although it makes more sense to spend $5k on wheels for a $80k car than for a $20k car).

So coolout. As long as YOUR car is the way you want it, be happy. Don't try to change other people's taste. If you've never experienced it, don't bash someone who is willing to spend money on an MKB, Kleemann, Renntech, etc. upgrade.

Sorry, I'm with Ted on this one. If you want to customize, buy a hooptie or a lowrider. It looks trashy on a classy car.

Anything excessive is always bad. Simple, subtle improvements can add class and distinction. Besides, everything is relative, what is classy to someone can be a hooptie to another. For instance, I see the C-Class as more sporty than classy.
