I'm bad

While the shop is tearing into my C32 replacing who knows what on the A/C, I decided to sort of return the favor on the C230K that they offered in return. (Don't worry I showed it a lot of love).

I am looking into the door sills because I plan on getting a set The wiring and construction is very similar, maybe exactly the same between the two cars. I decided to practice the install on the C230K, pulling a few parts, reading the fuse box, tracing wires etc. I can report the door sill installation is going to be very EASY. I had all the key parts out and then reinstalled them perfectly. If I had the new sills I would have been done in about 1.5 hours, without any instruction/help. Of course, instructions would make it even quicker. Anyone that knows the business end of a screwdriver from the handle can surely do this.

2003 MB C230 coupe
so do you think it would be a piece of cake to install the factory illuminated door sills i'm ordering from MB. i really don't wanna pay some clowns at the dealer $400 to do it. and i think i know which end is which on a screwdriver. the metal pointy end is the handle right?

$400 really!

I'll do it for $395.

Unless there is some kind of design problem I suppose yours will be pretty easy to install too.
But, I doubt MB will have any instructions.
If they do have instructions, you should certainly post here.

I think Harris' are simply modified original MB sills, so mechanically they are the same as a standard sill installation.
Electrically, all lighted sills should have similar requirements.
One difference: you can be sure, Harris' will have pretty good instructions.

Why MB, couldn't you think up a nice custom idea?

How about "Sportcoupe"

I think the word(s) " sportcoupe " in red would look really hot on my magma C230K, I'll send the sills, just interested in a quote.
Thanks in advance,

Just saw the sills in person today and they looked awesome! Very nice finishing with a very OE, professional look!
I was going to get mine done tommorrow, but unfortunately Harris is out of stock on thouse light pads so I'm going to have to wait a bit, Will post some pics after installed!

Hi guys, I was wondering if any of you have heard from Harris. I can't seem to get ahold of him and I was trying to attain a sit of his door sills. Is he still around? Does anyone have sills for the coupe?

I am still alive! Dont worry. Thank you all for the enquiries over the past couple of months. I've been very busy trying to get my company's site up and running so that I can be the "official" sponsor of MBWorld & I will not get busted by the moderators.

I am still making the sills, but my problem is I ran out of the light pads. I did receive some from my supplier a couple of days ago, unfortunately, he has taken the wrong measurement. So I have to make him re-do the entire order. Thats why all of my orders have been put on hold.

c class 279: sorry for not replying immediately. pls check yr e-mail.

Well let us know when you start taking orders for the sills. I'm still working (slowly) on a custom logo/lettering scheme for my set. This may go down as the silliest most impractical purchase I'll ever make.

Other than the Bronco? :p

I was wondering whatever happened to this. Since the dent in my one sill didn't go away by itself, I might be interested. Would "Smurfmobile" be copyright infringement?

After Jan 15.

I disagree, this will NOT "go down as the silliest most impractical purchase I'll ever make", but instead, it will be the "coolest inexpensive gadget that you have ever put on your car". People will admire you for it!! Trust me!! Especially at night!! :p

Oh yeah Tommy...I forgot about that. Well, let's say the sills will be the most impractical purchase in my ADULT life (the coupe itself will rank a close 2nd).

instead, it will be the "coolest inexpensive gadget that you have ever put on your car". People will admire you for it!!
Sorry to say, the only people that will see the sills are myself and my wife...and I already admire myself.

Like I said, I would like to know if you can make custom illuminated door sills for the CL600. Can you you do the lights in any color? What's the turnaround time, cost, how paid, etc? Can you send some jpegs of your work also?

No offense Bagwell, but if you're not going to read a post, is there any real reason to post a response?

Having said that, I just got Brabus sills installed - they did change from that girly aquamarine color to an orion blue-ish color, and they look damn fine.

Bonus is that they dropped the price - I got mine for $500, and they actually are posting stuff on Ebay, so might be able to pick some up there. Just a thought.
