Hey guys I have a 2003 C230 k . It has 52,000 miles on it. When i accelarate above 1500 rpm's , i hear a weird noise coming from the engine. Its a mix between an exhaust leak and a piston slapping noise. The car runs great, so am not sure what it could be. Does any one have the same problem?

Can you give us more info? Since you sound like you know what these distinct sounds are like, it should be a breeze. Does it do it only in the AM, first starts, or even when hot? Does the sound increase with RPMS?

Try to localize it if you can. I would be shocked if you had an engine issue. To be safe carefully examine your oil.

Just get us more info, and perhaps we can help.

hey , not sure. But i put my ear on th engine cover an this is a lifter sound. that not scares me, cause many issues that deal with lifter is the syn. oil, it then to make the lifter tick. I cant tell were the noise is coming from because i only hear it when am driving the car, not if i accelerate when it is still. I heard some one say that this car piston slap issues, how true is this?

If it was an exhaust leak you would hear it any time you put the engine at load, moving or parked.

I have never heard of piston slap in this car.

Wish, I could dial in more for you. But I would be concerned about driving this car.

Take to Dealer man, as soon as you can, internal noises should never be disregarded even for a small amount of time.

I doubt it is piston slap.

Lifters can get jucky oil in them. They are actually easy to clean but if the car is under warranty, take it to the dealer.

i have a clickin noise thats pretty loud and it does it in like any time even after i turn off the car it does it like every say like in 5 minutes or once in 20 minutes but it does it i dunno wtf that is i never heard it b4 i just started hearing it like 4 months ago i know it was not doing that for sure b4

You need to post more info about when and why. Light load, heavy load, on the gas, off the gas, etc...

I wouldn't hit the panic button just yet.
