Issues in the Fall

I was cleaning my airbox today and i noticed a leaf stuck to the SC inlet duct at the bottom right hand corner of the airbox, nearly covering the inlet...I must have had crappy gas mileage for a while

anyone else have similar experiences

I wonder why MB doesn't place a layer of non-restrictive mesh just at the intake inlet right behind the grille..i wonder what would have happend if the leaf wasn't stuck and was injested into the SC?

the filter will filter the part that the air flows in. i does not let dirt go past the airbox.

isn't there another barrier once you take off the filter so there's no way the leaf would have gone any further.

I am not to sure about 271 engine but most of benzes mass air flow sensors have sort of plastic mesh on inlet.

You have the wrong filter if this statement is true.

its a cylindrical filter..open an M271 aibox and you guys will see..the box is square and the opening is on the bottom right, a leaf can easily bypass the filter and be stuck to the SC opening in the airbox...

anyway long story short i got the custom intake from rlee and installed a mesh filter almost right behind the front grille..inide the intake...and hopefully that will help

Hm, that means German engineers have been smoking some serious CRACK !!!
Or maybe you missed something it cannot be otherwise after 10.000 km all 271 engines would be seized.
