Midland Park Auto Body's telephone is 201 444 5564. I have an estimate for fixing a 12 inch scratch on the driver's door and it is for 442.77. It is based on the "Motor Crash Estimating Guide", which is a computerized estimating service. I watched them do it, and they do not make it up. It is car specific.

If a body shop does not use this or a similar system, they are not serious.

Good luck.

$442 to paint a door, that's crazy. My bodyshop man has a flat rate he charges for cash customers usually between $200-$300 for any part of the car (bumper, door, fender, etc.)

I am so happy for you. My guys are honest and do a terrific job. You can keep your "all cash" guy, but if you are happy with him, good for you. I was trying to help someone out....unlike most everyone else on this thread.

labour cost 1000 bucks for little scratch... not to be offense, but i think those dealership mechanics are handicaps. That they need *** loads of times to fix one little scratch just amazed me. BTW never take anything that's not included in warranty to the dealership, they are the most rip off place in the world. And btw, some of the dealership don't do body work themselves, they give it to the local body shop and do the fix, so they charge you 1200 bucks, let other fix it for 200, and they earn that extra 1000 bucks and u don't even know.

Go to ur local body shop, get a quote, bargain. to me, that scratch is 200 bucks max

Wait, is paint cover by a manufacturer's warranty? I don't think so...

Yeah, I'd also suggest touch-up paint or learn to forget it's there! But $1,200 seems crazy, at that price you can paint the whole fender.
