Need Help Cutting The Front Spring...
Ok i have h&r cup kit and i wanna take an inch off the front spring...how many coil should i take off?The reason i wanna cut the front is because the back is so much lower then the front that i had to put 2 spring pad in the rear to level out the car.i like the drop of the rear with 1 pad but then the front would be higher.Right now its leveled at 1 and a half finger gap,i want no gap.

general rule of thumb....1" drop per 1/2 coil cut, but that is only somewhat true for about the first 1 and a half coils. It's not linear or a science. Would definitely not reccomend doing it but to each his own

1/2-1 coil cut on a german car is completely diff. compared to a honda/acura. especially on a aftermarket spring that has a stiffer spring rate, u will barely notice it.

ok so cut 1/2 of a coil cuz 1 coil would be 2inches lower right?

They were designed with a certain spring rate. Lopping off "dead coils" on any spring completely compensates the original design of the spring and makes it unpredictable. You'll ruin it if you cut it.
To the OP: Do it the right way, get a spring or coilover that will let you sit at the height you want. It'll cost you more in the long run as you'll find other issues that pop up over time. But hey...to each his own.

It's actually not that different. A spring is a spring.

1/2 to 1 coil max. Over 1 coil is considered unsafe unless you use a shorter shocks like koni yellow. Make sure the guy doing it knows how to seat the spring properly otherwise it'll be making noises.
If you want to use pad #1 in the rear cut 1/2 coil in the front should help level it out. 1 coil is to agressive and can messed up your fender if its not rolled.

Okay, sorry to Hijack your thread- But hows the H&R CupKit? I am planning on ordering it this week sometime with some wheels, and was wondering if youall suggest it having already got it.
Its for a 01 C320, I am putting 18s or 19s and want to close that goofy fender gap in the front. I dont want the back to be tucked too bad, but definetly want the front sitting low-
Go with CupKit? OR something else??

For the price of a H&R cupkit, you might as well add some more money and get a TEIN basic coilover. The coilover will take care of the unwanted front wheel gap you mention.
call us we can get you set up with the right wheels and suspensions system.
