Thanks, Erin.

You'll have to forgive me, I don't know if the pictures are loaded properly. I tried to insert them directly, but ended up in Manage Attachments. If you can't see them, would someone be kind enough to instruct me how to attach them.

How about this. Amazing what a little research can do.

Forgot this one.
Welcome car looks good.

I could tell there was something different, but really couldn't see it from the pics! very original! especially the tailpipe!

Car looks good! I am currently in the process of blacking out my chrome trim. Is that just taped over under the windows and around the rub strips? I got a quote from the paint guy at our dealership and it was gonna be $200 to paint all the chrome obsidian black to match my car. I have a black chrome hood star and rear deck lid star. I've also looked into ordering a black chrome grill. After the chrome is black all I need are wheels and the color change is complete. I like the powder coated tailpipe as well. Might have to rock that one in Cali too!

Nice work!

Thanks everyone, I got many of my ideas from this forum as well as past forums I've joined.

OC MBZ, yes it is just 3M tape around the car and under the windows. Very inexpensive for only $30 and there's enough left to do two more cars easily. Just like Ryanr317 mentioned, the nice thing about the tape, if you become tired of the look, peel it off and the chrome is back again. I would be interested to see the black chrome star's, as well as the grill. Post some pictures once you're finished.

I agree. At first I thought it was a put-on. But, after looking more closely, I think what you did is simply perfect. Whatever you do, keep with the subtle theme!

There is a special tape called blackout tape that are at some auto part stores as well as ebay. I remember seeing it on ebay for BMWs to replicate their "shadowline" trim that all fo the M cars as well as some sport models have.

Your car is really nice. It's clean, with subtle changes - they looks like mods that Mercedes would make to a new C-Class and that's what I like about it. On top of that it’ll be very easy to sell – to anybody, because you haven’t altered the style of the car so much, just enhanced it.

Keep it going.

I'm wondering, did you have the engine pieces covered with anything else to prevent the paint from peeling?

The engine pieces were painted exactly the same as the grill and marker lights and according to my buddy that did it, it's the same way the car was painted, base coat/clear coat. There are some imperfections on some of the engine pieces that happened during handling, but they're unnoticeable when installed, plus I really couldn't complain for the price.

Definitely. You haven't noticed any fading or deterioration? I was thinking of doing this before with my car, but was concerned that there would be too much heat in the engine bay for the paint to keep.

Actually, I just had everything painted about two weeks ago, so the paint hasn't been in the heat for very long. My buddy didn't seem concerned about it when I asked him to paint them. I guess time will tell.

Thanks again for everyones encouraging words and recommendations. I've lived in this town for six years now and my last two cars were lowered, I swore I wouldn't do it again. Let's see how it looks after I put wheels on it and maybe you guys can twist my arm a little more about dropping it.
