Exhaust Residue

I drive a 05 C230 ss. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. I get a lot of exhaust residue on my back bumper, trunk and quarter panels. I wash my car every week, but after the first drive it is already starting to coat the back end. I only use premium gas. I never had this problem after driving BMW's for the last 15+ years. Also anyone know if adding the C55 trunk lip will change the air flow around the car to eliminate this problem? Thanks for the comments guys.

Does not sound normal to me. I'd take it back to the dealership and have them take it look. Should be under warranty. Highly doubt a spoiler would change the air flow. Spoilers are for visual purposes or adding down force at higher speed. Good luck.

Take a picture of how it looks with the residue, might not be a problem, I have exhaust residue on the tips itself. again, take a picture.

exhaust residue on the chrome tip would be normal, but on the back bumper, trunk and quarter panels is not normal. Sounds like a warranty fix to me.

yeah residue on the tip is normal..but not everywhere else..are you sure its not tar or other particles...do you use excessive tire shine...it could be that if it is on the back QP

not excess tire shire, i get the exhaust on the trunk lid, bumper, and basically the back end, I have even had my wife drive it while i drive behind it to see if you can see excess exhaust. Everything looks normal while driving or idleing.

sounds like you're burning oil and need a new head gasket.

I bet it is brake dust like on my car. I know it is brake dust because I can drive it for 1000 miles on long trips up and down interstate 5 using very little brake and there is almost no residue. Yet if I drive it around town for 20 miles using the brakes it is much worse.

Since you have the C230 SS I bet it has similar brake pads to the C32.
