Anyone have access to service manual?

I will be doing a big scheduled maintance in the next month. I was deeply disappointed to find out that there are no service manuals sold for this car. I guess that is what free maintance does to cars. After performing a search I realize that there are a few users that still do their own work.

I need to see more detailed service specifications such as torque settings, brake bleed sequence, type/vol fluid, etc... If someone can copy paste images into forum or email me, I am very thankful for that.

I will be doing the following:
Full coolant flush
Auto tranny drain/fill
Diff fluid drain/fill
Bleed brakes
New Fuel filter
New Air filter

I realize that these cars come with "lifetime" this and that. But I want to keep this car for a long time. I have seen what happens to 90s BMW auto trannies that never had their "lifetime" fluid changed. I also apologize for grammar mistakes as English is not my first language.

Any particular model and year? How many miles on it? Manuals are available in CD format but I've read they are expensive. There is a service on line that allows you to access the technical information for $X for a few days.

The transmission fluid, antifreeze, brake fluid, and rear diff fluid have extended replacement intervals. Brake fluid needs to be changed every two years, not because of that old wives tale about water absorbtion, but rather copper contamination. The other fluids have 150,000 mile change intervals. All these fluids have properties that conventional fluids do not have. The brake fluid is designed to operate in the narrow passages of the antilock unit. The fluid from Alfred Teves (ATE) is not easy to find in the US. It is not standard DOT 3 or 4, and is not super blue or gold racing fluid. You can find it along with the transmission fluid, antifreeze, and diff fluid at the dealer.

I have to agree with you that extended change intervals seem too good to be true, but the engineering for the motor oils work. The correct 0w-40 Mobil 1 oil that meets the Mercedes spec sheet, with the fleece oil filter realy does allow 1 year or 13,000 mile oil change interval, without causing excessive engine wear.

It is a 2005 C240 w/ 28k miles on it. Purchased/built in Jan 05. I'll try to find this link, seems worthwile to grab a bunch of stuff of it.

If you have never changed the oil in the transmission then I am not even sure if it will last to 150k and well at that point you shouldn't be changing the fluid anyway as it will most likely cause failure.

I am not sure how these motors tolerate lack of antifreeze changes. Some need head gasket replacement if it wasn't changed rigilously every 2 years. It's just a good thing to do, can't hurt.

You are probably right about the engine oil. I will eventually get an oil analysis done to see if that 13k interval is OK. But above all, if you do all the maintance yourself, the cost of doing preemptive maintance is cheap. Also realize that according to MB 1qt per 1000mi is considered OK. In my book, for non-performance engine it is not. Wouldn't you rather not have that by just doing a few extra oil changes?
